"He crowns me with love and tender mercies.." – Psalm 103:4
Size: 840 x 600mm
Medium: oil on canvas
Year: 2025
A crown is far more than a jewelled headpiece; it represents authority, honour, and the bestowal of divine favour. When the psalmist says God “crowns” us, he is picturing God placing a regal diadem upon our heads as a visible sign of His covenantal love. The crown therefore signifies:
Divine approval – God’s acceptance of us as His cherished children, granting us a status that surpasses earthly rank.
Grace‑filled protection – Just as a crown shields a king’s head, God’s loving‑kindness shields our lives from the pit of sin and despair.
Ongoing mercy – The crown is not a one‑time gift but a continual covering of tender mercies that renew each day.
The crown in Psalm 103:4 encapsulates the truth that our worth and security rest not on human achievement but on God’s perpetual, loving rule over us. It reminds us that the highest honour we can wear is the grace of the One who redeemed us. Amen.
